Thales wins contract to supply sonobuoys to the French Navy

(Alliance News) - Thales SA on Friday said it has won a contract to supply anti-submarine sonobuoys to the French Navy.
The Paris-based technology company serving the aerospace, defence, and transport sectors said it has signed a contract with the French defence procurement agency to supply "several hundred" SonoFlash sonobuoys.
The sonar buoys are deployed from a maritime aircraft or helicopter and enable the detection of submarines.
Thales Vice President Sebastien Gueremy said: "Through its SonoFlash sonobuoy and the CAPTAS and FLASH sonars, Thales is proud to contribute to the development of the French anti-submarine warfare sector. The excellence of Thales's offerings solutions in this field is recognised worldwide and is being put to the service of the French Navy in a context of renewed tensions at sea."
Thales shares were up 0.8% to EUR155.85 in Paris on Friday afternoon.
